Wilburn "Wes" Wesley Styles

Wilburn "Wes" Wesley Styles, of Belmont, NC, born on April 4, 1948, in Lincoln County, NC, to the late Claude Styles and Willie Stiles Ledford, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 8, 2025. Wes was a man of deep faith, who cherished his relationship with God and the joy that came from loving Jesus. He embodied devotion not only in his spirituality but also in the love he showed to his family.

Wes leaves behind a beautiful legacy as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Rhyne Styles, and his children: James Styles (Hazel), Michelle Nichols (Jeff), Jackie Manns (Allen), Mike Crawford, and Shad Crawford. His siblings, Patricia Dover (Johnny), Cathy Lunsford, and brother Bobby Styles (Cecilia), stand united in the shared memories of a kind and loving brother.

As a proud grandfather, Wes adored his grandchildren: Jonathan, Ruby, Heather, Brandy, Dakota, McKenzie, Levi, Victoria, Erica, and Lincoln. Each moment spent with them brought him immense joy. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Laci, Natalie, Phillip, Braxton, Carter, Corbin, Maddox, Maverick, Raylyn, Freya, JohnLuke, Jordan, Jonah, Journey, Jayden, Maggie, Dee, Isabella, Nolan, and Arabella, who undoubtedly held a special place in his heart.

Wes's personality shone brightly through the simple pleasures of life. He found joy in carp fishing, a pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and unwind. He was an ardent fan of the Atlanta Braves, cheering for his team with unwavering devotion. His evenings were often spent in front of the television watching Flashpoint, a show that captured his interest and sparked countless discussions.

In addition to his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Bingham Styles, and his daughter, Kathy Styles McCurry. Though they are no longer by his side, their memories remain a vital part of his journey.

A visitation in celebration of Wes's life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5 PM to 6 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 6 PM at Benson Funeral & Cremation, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120.

Wes Styles will be remembered not just for his love of family and faith, but for the kindness he showed to everyone around him. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy of love and devotion will remain an enduring light for all who knew and loved him.
