Walter Carl Penland Jr.

Walter Penland passed away at age 74.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Penland; his son, Gene Penland; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Penland; his granddaughters, Zoe Penland (Lucy Huddleston), Sylvia Penland; his sisters, Doris Ann Penland, Jannette Ferguson, Patricia Ramey, and Deborah Campbell; and nephew, Johnny Rushton.

Walter was loved and appreciated by many.  He was a selfless man who took care of many children in need.  All of which knew him as Pawpaw and Uncle Walter.  He worked 20 years for Imperial Mills, Parkdale Mills, and A&E until he retired early to take care of his wife at age 63.  He went back to work for four years at Wendy's.  Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a man that will never be forgotten.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Harvest Community Church, 826 W. Charlotte Ave., Mt. Holly, NC 28120 with Pastor Tom Chiclester officiating.
