Victoria Bonner

May 8, 1945 — June 8, 2021

Victoria Ellen Bonner finished her race in this life and entered into heaven on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. She was 76 years old and had been faithfully living for Jesus Christ for decades.

She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 30 years, Tom Bonner. Victoria and Tom had lived in Michigan, in Wilmington, NC, and most recently in Gastonia, NC. Victoria’s legacy also includes her sons Matt and Tom, her daughter-in-law Meg, and her 3 grandchildren, Emmaus, Elijah and Elana.

Victoria was born in Ohio and was raised primarily by her single mother, Jennie D’Angelo. Victoria graduated from Bowling Green State University and then held various professional positions in Michigan and North Carolina, including teaching public school, working for the Arthritis Foundation, and holding leadership positions for the Life Center, an organization dedicated to serving clients with dementia.

She loved spending time with her family, and throughout her life had been involved in sailing, music, gardening, traveling (especially the beach and the mountains), and loved to find creative ways to encourage other people.  Her love for Jesus was evident not just in her participation with various churches over the years, but in the Christ-like love she showed people, with a special place in her heart for the elderly and for single mothers.

Victoria loved singing and especially playing the piano, and she was always interested in trying to improve things. Those who knew her would most definitely say their lives were improved and in fact very blessed because of their chance to know Victoria personally.

In lieu of flowers, her husband would like to honor Victoria by blessing single mothers. Donations can be made to Bit of Hope Ranch, and all donations will be used as scholarships for single mothers and their children to receive counseling and other services at the Ranch.

A celebration of life service will be held for Victoria on Friday, June 11 at New Covenant Church in Gastonia.  Visitation will be from 6-7 pm, with the service at 7 pm.  The family will enjoy a private memorial service for Victoria on Sunday night at Bit of Hope Ranch, where her ashes will be scattered, a tree will be planted and a bench will be placed in her honor.
