Veronica Wanda Blackwell

February 21, 1952 — September 17, 2023

Veronica Wanda Blackwell, known affectionately as "Ronnie," passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 71. She was born on February 21, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Robert and Mildred Rushton Barrett. Ronnie's passing occurred at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Ronnie was a warm and caring person who touched the lives of those around her. She had a deep love for freshwater fishing and often enjoyed this activity with her beloved husband of 30 years, Kieth Blackwell. Together, they created cherished memories on the water.

One of Ronnie's greatest joys was her home which she lovingly referred to as "Ronnie's World." There, she found solace and happiness in her swimming pool and an adult-made swing set that resembled a merry-go-round built by Kieth. She loved spending time in her own little oasis.

But perhaps what brought Ronnie the most joy was being with her great-great nephews. She adored them completely and treasured the precious moments they shared together. Her love for family knew no bounds.

Ronnie had a profound impact on those closest to her. Surviving her are her loving husband Kieth Blackwell, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Additionally, she is survived by her great niece Tashia Witherspoon and husband JR, and her great-great nephews John, Mason, and JJ as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her family, Ronnie held dear friendships that brought immense happiness into her life. Her best friend Barbara Murphy shared countless laughs and cherished memories with Ronnie over the years. Ronnie's two furry companions Toby and Pixie held a special place in her heart, providing unwavering companionship throughout their time together.

Private services will be conducted by the family, allowing them to grieve and remember Ronnie in their own personal way. It is during these moments that her loved ones will come together to honor her memory and find solace in the beautiful life she lived.

Veronica Wanda Blackwell will forever be remembered as a loving and caring woman who embraced every moment of her life. She will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her light and spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
