In loving memory of Steve White who was born on February 22nd, 1954 to the late Kenneth Alton White and Nina June Hanna, passed away on June 16th, 2025 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He is survived by his children, Amber Vera May White, and Forest Dustin White; his grandson, Luka Adam Cook; his life partner, Wanda Greene; Sister, Karen Beasley; Brother, Scott White; and Half-brother, David Hanna.
Steve was born in Freeport, ME where he followed in his fathers footsteps in steel, and iron work. He was a musician at heart. A gifted guitar player, as well as an analogue sound engineer. Steve was in numerous bands throughout his life, but the one he was exceptionally proud of was Katahdin where he received a Life-Time Achievement Award from Music Line Magazine in the year 1986.
Steve and his family moved to North Carolina in 1990. While this move was far away from everything he and his family knew, he quickly became a friend, neighbor, and bandmate. His love for music and art led him to graphic design and photography. Steve loved to capture raw moments and beauty of all kinds. Steve lived for family dinners every night at the dinner table. His heart was truly full when the whole family sat down and broke bread together. Steve had a knack for singing while cooking dinner singing songs that he would make up in the moment while his children secretly listened and laughed. Steve was a beloved son, brother, father and grandfather who will undoubtedly leave a profound impact after his passing.
In his last days he was surrounded by loved ones. He would want those who he shared happy moments with, to live in those, and share those with others. Don’t worry, be happy, as he would say.
