Sara McCorkle Burnett

Sara McCorkle Burnett, 86, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully January 17, 2015 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. Mrs. Burnett was born July 29, 1928 and was a native of Mecklenburg County, daughter of William Harvey McCorkle and Bess Thompson McCorkle. She was a loving mother of her late sons, Robert D. Burnett and William E. Burnett. She was also preceded in death by Brothers, James "Jim" McCorkle, William "Bill" McCorkle, Cecil McCorkle and Ted McCorkle and a sister Marie Spalding.

She was a graduate of Berryhill High School in Charlotte, class of 1947 and a former member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. Her greatest joy was working in her yard and flower gardens.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years Robert "Bob" M. Burnett. Grand daughter Cheryl and grandson Rodney. Sister-in-law, Patricia McCorkle. Nephews, Ronald Spalding, David and Steven McCorkle and Pat Crandall.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday January 21 at Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dwayne Burks officiating.
