Sandra Tilton, lovingly known as "Doobie," was born in Gaston County on February 9, 1971. She was the cherished daughter of the late Steve Tilton and Katy Gamble Tilton. After a courageous and vibrant life, Sandra passed away on October 19, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Belmont.
A dear figure in her community, Sandra was well-known for her unique hobbies and passions. She found immense joy in shopping at Goodwill and exploring local yard sales, where she had a remarkable talent for discovering and restoring old furniture pieces. Her love for gardening allowed her to cultivate beauty both in her home and in her surroundings, providing a tangible expression of her nurturing spirit. Additionally, Sandra delighted in spending time at the beach, where the waves and sun brought her peace and happiness.
Sandra was an attendee of the Belmont Foursquare Church, a community that valued and welcomed her warm presence. Her faith was an essential part of her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging moments.
In her passing, Sandra leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her fiancé, Donnie Auten; her sons, Dustin Scott and Stephen Scott (Rose); and her beloved grandchildren, Maci Scott and Walter Scott. She also leaves her sister, Cynthia Heavener (Greg); her nephews, Brandon, Bradley, and Bryan Heavener; and her cherished pet dog, DeBo.
The funeral services honoring Sandra will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Benson Funeral & Cremation in Mt. Holly, NC. A visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
Sandra Tilton touched the lives of many with her kind heart and lively spirit. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue through the love she shared with her family and friends.
