Rodney "Rod" Loyear, a devoted writer and seeker of truth, passed away on June 15, 2025, at his residence in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on May 11, 1939, in Ephrata, Washington, to the late George and Irma Christensen Loyear. Rod lived a life filled with exploration and intellectual pursuit, having traveled the world and immersed himself in a deep understanding of physics and philosophy, particularly the works of Plato, in addition to his studies in physiology.
Rod's dedication to service is emblematic of his character, as he proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Veteran. His legacy includes not just his literary contributions but also the wisdom he imparted to those fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Loyear, and their children: Michelle Airington, Lee Anne Macklin, Danielle Dameron, and Rachelle Loyear. Rod was a cherished father and grandfather, leaving behind 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who will forever hold his memory dear.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Marc Loyear; and his siblings, Margie Moen, Joanne Jacobson, Virginia Smith, and Glenn Loyear. Rod's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and sharing in his journey of life.
