Richard Peter McCoy

Richard Peter McCoy Sr., 72, of Belmont passed away March 30, 2022 at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC.  He was born on August 1, 1949 to the late Elmer McCoy and Mildred Helm McCoy.  Richard was born in Rochester, New York and has also lived in Pamona, CA., Las Vegas, NV., and most recently Belmont, NC.  During his career he served as an EMT, Volunteer Fire Fighter, Truck Driver, and a Security Guard.  He enjoyed fishing, movies, painting and crafts, gambling at casinos, music concerts (especially Reba), and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Richard Peter McCoy Jr.; daughter, Jennifer Lynn McCoy; siblings, Bob McCoy, Martina "Tina" McCoy, Trudy McCoy Little, Eugene "Gene" McCoy, and Michael McCoy; grandchildren, Leah Furr, Corbin Stroth, Zachary Mills, and Alexander McCoy; and Great Grandson, Dean Furr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly.  A Memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Ford officiating.  There will be a gathering after the Memorial Service at the home of Renee Arborgast, 179 Hub Carpenter Rd., Bessemer City, NC 28016.
