Ralph Fredrick Smith

Ralph Fredrick Smith , 84, of Lake Wylie, SC passed away on November 6, 2022 at Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill, SC. He was born on May 11, 1938 to the late Ralph Haines Smith and Verna Scanlan Smith. He was preceded in death by his son, Tim Smith; brothers, David and Arthur Smith; and his sister, Ann Smith Curtis.  He joined the military at the age of 17 and proudly served in the US Navy and the Navy Reserves. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer (Senior Chief). He was awarded many medals and commendations during his service.  He also retired from Federal Express, was a lifetime member of the VFW,  and was active in his church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Sue White Smith; Children, Bill Smith (Terry), Randy Smith, and Vicki Hough (Shane);  one sister, Dorothy Hogan; eight grandchildren: Ashley, Brooke, Danny, Garrett, Sam, Jennifer, Amy and James; and four great grandchildren, Keegan, Harper, Brett, and Remy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Gaston Christian Church, 5339 South New Hope Road, Belmont, NC with Rev. Scott Patterson officiating.  Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow immediately with military honors at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.
