Patti Wise Queen, born on February 27, 1955, in Gaston County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, North Carolina. She was a cherished individual whose legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
Patti dedicated herself to her career as the Senior Administrator Specialist in Radiation Protection for Duke Energy, where she served diligently for 28 years before retiring in 2018. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her devotion to her family and friends.
In her personal life, Patti was known for her vibrant personality. She had a deep love for her pet dog, Jack. She enjoyed boating and spending quality time on Lake Wylie with her late husband, William "Billy" Queen Jr. Their time on the lake was one of many treasured moments she shared with him, further enriched by the companionship of her friends and family. Patti had a zest for life that included traveling and camping, pursuits that allowed her to explore and appreciate the beauty of the world around her.
Patti is survived by her mother-in-law, Hilda Queen Hunter; her nieces and nephews: Wesley Wise, Joshua Wise (Nicole), Hunter Shires, Spencer Heffner, Jonathan Heffner, Molly Heffner, Evie Heffner, Brooke Norwell (Andrew), Blair Baker, Addison Hichman, Tyson Hichman, Chris Drumm, and Tiffney Drumm; as well as her aunts, Jane Stroupe Ballard (David), Judy Stoupe Nicholas, and Jane Willis Stroupe. Notably, Patti also leaves behind her cousin, Pamela Stroupe Avery, who was more like a sister to her.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, James Heffner and Barbara Ann Stroupe, her beloved husband, William "Billy" Queen Jr., and two brothers, Mike Wise and Jeff Heffner.
A memorial service to honor Patti's life will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Southminister Presbyterian Church located at 1401 Hoffman Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054, officiated by Rev. Dan Oedy, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation to follow after the service.
