Pat McCall Nixon, 85, of Stanley, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC on June 12, 2026. Born on March 18, 1941, in Belmont, North Carolina, Pat was a lifelong North Carolinian who embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to its fullest.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love, enthusiasm, and generous spirit touched all who knew him.
Pat was married to the love of his life, Judy Severt Nixon, for 55 years. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and adventure. He was a proud father to his daughter, Christie Walker, and a loving grandfather to Julia Walker Swett and her husband, Jared, and Grace Walker. Also a good friend to many people throughout his life. Pat began his career as a truck driver for Sodeyco Chemicals in Belmont, where he worked for 20 years. After taking early retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own property management business, which he operated successfully for many years.
A man of many passions, Pat was an avid water skier, hang glider, motorcycle racer in his younger years and classic car enthusiast throughout his life. He spent countless years on the car show circuit, proudly displaying his treasured classic automobiles, serving as a judge, and helping organize car shows throughout the region. His enthusiasm for automobiles and motorsports connected him with friends from all walks of life. At the age of 80, he fulfilled a bucket list item which was skydiving! Pat loved to travel and never met a stranger. He genuinely enjoyed meeting new people, sharing stories, and creating lasting friendships wherever he went. His adventurous nature, sense of humor, and appreciation for life's experiences made him a joy to be around. He believed in living life fully and encouraged those around him to do the same.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judy Severt Nixon; his daughter, Christie Walker; his granddaughters, Julia Walker Swett (Jared) and Grace Walker; along with many extended family members and dear friends. Pat was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Helms Nixon; his father, Charlie McCall Nixon; and his brother, Doug Nixon. Pat's legacy of love, adventure, hard work, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2:00PM at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mt. Holly.
The family will receive friends prior to the graveside from 12:30PM - 1:30PM at Benson Funeral & Cremation Service, Mt. Holly.
