Michael Shane Waldroup, affectionately known as "Big Shane," left this world on February 11, 2026, at Caromont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, NC. Born on January 13, 1970, in Gastonia, Shane carved a unique path through life that touched the hearts of many.
Shane was a spirited and passionate individual, well-regarded in the wrestling community where he took on the persona of "Smasher Stone" as an Independent Wrestler. Beyond his wrestling exploits, he was a past dedicated employee at Sam's Club in Gastonia, where he contributed his time and energy with zeal and commitment.
Shane’s personality was vibrant and full of life. He was an ardent Dallas Cowboy fan and had a great appreciation for the mountains, often finding peace and joy within their beauty. His wonderful sense of humor and generous nature made him a beloved figure among family and friends, as he always found ways to uplift and support those around him. Above all, Shane loved his children tremendously, consistently prioritizing their well-being and happiness.
Shane is survived by his cherished children, Michael "Little Shane" Waldroup (Ashley) and Rebeka Brett Waldroup. He was also a loving brother to Denise Warner (John) and Tommy Waldroup (Pamela Davenport). His legacy continues with his beloved nieces and nephews, Heather Swink (John), Jennifer Harris (Daniel), Matthew Davenport (Elizabeth White), and Christopher James Davenport (Holly).
Shane was predeceased by his parents, Larry Dale and Diane Holder Waldroup. A brother, Larry Waldroup, and his uncle, Marvin Holder, both of whom he remembered fondly.
The family extends special thanks to Joan Gilliland, whose dedicated care provided Shane with comfort and support during his life. His absence will be felt deeply, but his spirit will forever live on in the memories of those who had the privilege to know him.
