Michael "Dwayne" Simmons

Michael “Dwayne” Simmons, 44, of Gastonia, passed away suddenly May 2, 2016 at his residence. Dwayne was born in Gaston County April 22, 1972 to Deborah Horne Saunders and the late Roger Lee Simmons. He is also preceded in death by his grandson Trenton Aaron Simmons, Jr., paternal grandparents Ralph and Myrtle Simmons and also maternal grandfather Elzie Horne. He was a lover of music often playing the guitar and the keyboard.

Survivors include his wife Holly Yvonne Simmons. Mother, Deborah Saunders and stepfather James. Grandmother, Faye Cooper. Children, Heather Michelle Simmons (Matthew Hunt), Trenton Aaron Simmons (Destiny McAteer).  Sister and best friend Terri Ricketts (Johnny Chapman, Jr.) and Leigh-Ann Willoughby (Christopher). Grandchildren, Gavin, Jaelynn, and Aubrie.

Memorial Services to Celebrate Dwayne’s life will be held Thursday May 5 at 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Services, Mt. Holly. Visitation with viewing will be from 6:00-7:00, also at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
