Michael Lee Harris

Michael Lee Harris, passed away on September 24, 2026 at Stanley Total Living center. He was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on August 1, 1956 to the late Harold and Jannie Wilson Harris.

Michael was born in Charlotte but lived his entire life in Belmont, NC. He graduated from the Children’s Center in the late 70’s. Mike faced challenges throughout his life with grace, and his gentle spirit reflected God’s love in a beautiful way. Michael’s life was known for his deep love for Jesus that he joyfully shared with everyone he met. He grew up in church, loved VBS, accepted Christ at a young age, and was baptized at 14. Since 1970 Michael and his family have been members of Alexander Memorial Church in Belmont, where his faith, kindness, and unwavering love grew. Michael enjoyed sports and was in the Special Olympics as a child. He proudly cheered for the Carolina Panthers, the Atlanta Braves, Duke, and his hometown favorite, the Southpoint Red Raiders. Michael’s favorite restaurant was Captain's Cap. “Though his abilities were different, his heart was full of Jesus, and his homegoing is a celebration of a life that touched many.”

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Jannie Harris, and a brother Harold O. Harris

Michael is survived by his brother Keith Harris, and a number of cousins. and many nieces and nephews. 

A Graveside Service will be at 1:00 pm on September 28, 2026 at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont with Rev. Jerry Pennington officiating

A Memorial Service and a visitation will follow at 2:00 pm at Alexander Memorial  Church, 208 S. Main Street, Belmont, NC
