Melvin "Old Wormy" Ray Dickerson, Sr.

Melvin Ray “Old Wormy” Dickerson, Sr., age 64, went home on October 3, 2017.  He was born on October 12, 1952 to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Mildred P. Dickerson.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Bayless and Shirley Hughes.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patsy Mathis Dickerson; a son of the home, Michael Bingham; Daughter, Ella Clark of Casar, NC, Sons, Melvin Dickerson, Jr. and wife Ruby of Lawndale, NC, William Dickerson of Dallas, NC; Daughters, Crystal Griffith and husband Christian of Dallas, NC, Melondy Mitchell and husband Steven of Dallas, NC; Sister, Brenda Barrett of Gastonia, NC; Brother, David Dickerson of Washington; 24 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren.

He was a loving husband and father and was loved by many people.  He loved to carp fish more than anything in the world at Midway Lakes among others.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St. Mt. Holly, NC.
