Lynn Susan Mathieu

August 23, 1964 — December 7, 2016

Lynn Pearson Mathieu, 52, of Gastonia, was released into the arms of Christ on Dec. 7th, 2016, at Carolina's Medical Center.  She was born in Gaston County on August 23rd, 1964, to the late Herbert H. Pearson and Betty Shedd Pearson. Lynn had a passion for travel, and enjoyed trips to Beaufort, Charleston, and the Carolina mountains. In these places, she felt closer to nature and more in touch with her faith in Christ. Never without a bright outfit or shade of lipstick on, Lynn's color preferences reflected her vibrant and show-stopping personality. According to her husband, she spent most of her time looking absolutely ravishing, and had a true talent for accessorizing. Close friends and family recall her "old soul", seen in her love of old black and white movies and a range of music (long live her crush on Aerosmith's Steven Tyler). Lynn was also an animal lover, with a special place in her heart reserved for pugs. Most of all, Lynn will be remembered by many as an angel, and a woman who exuded the love of God. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Robert "Matt" Mathieu; her sister Lisa Shannon and brother-in-law Carl Shannon; her daughter Amanda Shives; step children Morgan and Seth Mathieu; her dear friends Amy and Jimmy Sanders, Rhonda Mullis, Paige Gore, and Barb Gallimore; and her beloved pug Lucy. Lynn was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gastonia, where a memorial service officiated by Pastor Brandon K. McCoy will be held at 6:00 p.m., on Monday, December 12th, 2016, with a brief life celebration reception to follow."
