Luis Francisco Cossio Sr.

October 10, 1945 — May 25, 2024

Mt. Holly, NC

Mr. Luis Francisco Cossio, 78, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Luis Cossio was born on October 10, 1945 in Lima, Peru. His parents were Ramón and Tula Cossio.

Luis shared a full and happy life with his wife Mercedes Cossio with whom he shared for 52 years the happiness of seeing his beloved children, Luisa Mercedes, Luisa del Pilar, Luis Alberto and Luis Daniel grow up. He also shared the happiness that his grandchildren gave him, Bobby, Andrea, Andy, Luis, Sofia, Sammy, Nico, Olivia, Alex and Leo.

Luis was a lover of fishing, red wine, the Peruvian soccer national team of '78, The Sonora Matancera Band, Hector Lavoe, Jeeps and the color red. Luis always competed to have fun and, of course, to win at whatever game or sport he played. The memory of his competitive nature will live on in our hearts as we remember the games of “Sapo” (Toad) in the yard of the house in Queens Village, New York, or the late-night bocce games in the apartment in Jackson Heights, NY.  Luis played and competed in whatever game or sport that came up, whether it was tennis, soccer or “Corn Hole.”

Luis always wanted the best for his family. This led him to emigrate to the United States where he worked hard to create opportunities to succeed for his wife and children. That is why we celebrate the life and the indelible mark Luis has left on each person he met and interacted with.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen "A Quiet Place" Cemetery, Belmont with Pastor Javier Cepeda officiating.
