Lisa Anne Miller "Mel"

September 30, 1964 — April 25, 2020

Lisa Anne Miller “Mel”, 55, of Mount Holly, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at her residence. She was born on September 30, 1964 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Peggie Correll. Mel was the most positive person you could ever meet. She was inspiring to everyone she met and always found the best in people. Her smile was infectious, and her heart was big, she always put others above herself. If you were friends with Mel, you were friends for life. Her childhood friends and friends she met while in the Girl Scouts, are still her friends today; her village is large. Friends comment that she was incredibly giving, open minded, and made every chapter worth reading.  Mel was an extremely thoughtful daughter who checked in on her Mother daily. She loved doing anything outdoors, from sitting on her deck, hiking, visiting the Whitewater Center, to exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. She was a big Duke basketball fan and her favorite beer was Cottonwood Pumpkin. She loved to organize events that brought people together and looked forward to attending the Renaissance Festival each year. Mel loved having her niece spend the night with her, “Heads Up” was their favorite game to play.  She also enjoyed collecting anything that depicted Dragons. In 2009, Mel founded Business Sorority, an organization to empower women. She grew this group into three chapters, North, South, and Uptown, and today it consists of 105 members. Above all this, Mel loved and cherished her son, he was the light of her life. She was fierce and fearless, and fought to her last breath. As Mel would always say, “Cheers”!

In addition to her Mother, Mel is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Alex and Emily Miller, and their new baby, Brooks, who is expected to arrive in September; sister & brother-in-law, Laura and Shawn Taylor; brother, Marc Correll; niece, Blair Taylor; canine companions, Gibbs, Hotch, and Rayban; and grand-pup, Rylie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mel’s name may be made to: Business Sorority, 1800 Camden Road #107-268, Charlotte, NC 28203.
