Lisa Caroline Stroupe Mathis

Lisa Caroline Stroupe Mathis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025 at the age of 54. Born on October 9, 1970, to Marie Stroupe Yerton and the late Kenneth Stroupe, Lisa filled every moment of her life with love, joy, and kindness that left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Lisa's spirit was one that shone brightly in her role as a business owner alongside her husband, Shane Mathis, as they proudly ran Mathis Towing & Recovery for many years. This venture was just one of the many ways she exemplified her commitment and dedication to her family. At the heart of her life were her daughters, Ashleigh Childress and Mykala Mathis, and her two cherished granddaughters, Adalyn and Faith, whom she adored and was immensely proud of. Her pride in her family was unwavering, and she loved them with a fervor that was as contagious as it was profound.

Lisa was an affectionate and loving individual, embodying her Baptist Christian faith in every interaction. She truly never met a stranger; her warm smile and open heart welcomed all who crossed her path. Known for her tender-hearted nature, she devoted much of her time to caring for her mother, Marie, especially during her times of need in illness. Lisa's compassion extended beyond her family; her natural affinity for animals led her to take in stray pets, showcasing her nurturing spirit and her tender heart.

Among Lisa's favorite pastimes was traveling with her family, where she delighted in camping in her 5th wheel, often finding the beauty of both the mountains and the beach. These trips became cherished memories, highlighting her adventurous spirit and desire to soak in the world around her. Lisa also had a passion for shopping, particularly for shoes, with a well-known quip that she "owned enough pairs to stretch all the way to the beach."

In death, Lisa is preceded by her father, Kenneth Stroupe, and her nephew, Kenneth Spivey. However, her legacy of love, joy, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Survivors include her devoted husband, Shane Mathis; her loving mother, Marie Yerton; her cherished daughters, Ashleigh Childress and Mykala Mathis; her sisters, Michelle Stroupe (Paul Fine) and Jerrie McCoy; her two precious granddaughters, Adalyn and Faith; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lisa Caroline Stroupe Mathis will be deeply missed, but not forgotten, as the love she shared and the memories she created will resonate in the lives of many forever. Her legacy is one of warmth, kindness, and an unparalleled love for family and friends that will live on in our hearts.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Lisa will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral Services, Mt. Holly.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
