Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Novant Huntersville Medical Center. As she fought several
medical issues she was surrounded with love by her devoted family. She was born December 5,
1935 in Santa Clara, CA, the only child of the late Dr. Leonard and Elizabeth Stone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years John H. (Jack)

Leanne was a proud graduate of the Woman's College at Duke University and one of her
favorite things to do was to cheer on her beloved Duke Blue Devils on the basketball court. She
also enjoyed attending Duke Club of Charlotte events. While at Duke she was a sister of Kappa
Kappa Gamma sorority. During her life with Jack they lived in the Chicago, IL area twice, the

years. She and Jack collected many friends through their lives and enjoyed spending time with
them. Leanne was a gracious hostess when entertaining at their home. A lifelong love of
Leanne's was classical music and she supported the local symphony orchestra wherever she was
living. One of her proudest achievements was having helped the Johnson City Symphony
Orchestra survive the COVID pandemic as the chairperson of the symphony board of directors.
She was a lover of live theater and attended too many events to count at Barter Theater in
Abingdon, VA and Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, NC. She served on the board of directors
of Barter Theater for many years. Leanne also loved to travel and had visited many parts of the
world with Jack and frequently with friends.
Most important to her was her family and she will always be remembered as a devoted
daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves a legacy to be cherished by her survivors,
her sons John Shaver and wife Charlotte and Tom Shaver and wife Linda and grandson
Nicholas Shaver and wife Erica, all of Charlotte, NC.
