Katy Diane Tilton, a beloved member of the Belmont community, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. She was born on February 16, 1949, in Gaston County, NC, to the late Joseph Gamble and Ruth Pierson Gamble. Katy's loving husband of 30 years, Steve Wayne Tilton, and her siblings Kenneth, Charlie, Eddie, Buddy, Lucy, Betty, and Caroline preceded her in death.

Katy was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Four Square Church in Belmont. She found great solace and strength in her spirituality throughout her life. Katy was known for her vivacious personality and had a genuine zest for life. She had an infectious love for people and an incredible talent for connecting with others.

As an avid traveler, Katy found joy in exploring new places near and far. She cherished the memories she made during her adventures and often regaled friends and family with captivating stories of her escapades. Katy possessed a remarkable creative spirit and enjoyed expressing herself through various artistic endeavors. Arts, crafts, and floral arrangements were among her many passions.

In this digital era, Katy embraced social media as a means to stay connected with loved ones. Her avid presence on Facebook earned her the endearing nickname "the Facebook Queen." She delighted in scrolling through posts to catch up on the latest news from friends near and far. Katy recognized the importance of maintaining meaningful connections throughout life.

Music filled Katy's soul with unparalleled joy. It was not uncommon to find her dancing to her favorite tunes whenever she had the chance. Her lively spirit shone brightest when surrounded by her cherished family and adored grandchildren. They brought immense happiness to her heart.

Left to cherish Katy's memory are her loving daughters, Sandra Tilton and Paulette Heavener along with Paulette's husband Greg. Also mourning her loss are her sisters, Jean Crowley and Katherine Chapman. Katy's legacy lives on through her adoring grandchildren, Brandon Heavener, Bradley Heavener, Bryan Heavener, Stephen Scott and his wife Rose, and Dustin Scott;  Additionally, she leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren, Maci Scott and Walter Scott. Katy's presence will be dearly missed by numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate to call her family. Her pet granddog, Debo, held a special place in her heart as well.

Services to honor and celebrate Katy's remarkable life will be announced at a later date. Let us remember Katy Diane Tilton as an extraordinary woman who brought happiness and love into the lives of everyone she met. May her vibrant spirit continue to inspire us all to embrace life with open hearts and open minds.
