Judy Katherine Hovis

May 25, 1951 — April 23, 2025

Dallas, NC

Judy Katherine Hovis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 73 at her residence. Born on May 25, 1951, in Hertford County, North Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Benjamin and Katherine Willis Britton. Judy’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to her community and family, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.

Judy dedicated over 42 years of her life to WIX Filters as the inventory manager, where her work ethic and dedication were evident. She touched the lives of many throughout her career, earning a reputation for her kindness and diligence. However, it was outside of her professional life where Judy’s vibrant spirit truly shined.

A devoted member of the Dallas Methodist Church in Dallas, NC, she was deeply involved in church life as a lifetime member, where she participated actively in the Methodist Women and generously shared her knowledge by teaching Sunday School. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and nurturing her love for those around her.

Judy's passions extended far beyond her professional obligations and religious commitments. She loved attending car shows, where her enthusiasm for cars brought joy to her heart. Crocheting provided her solace and creativity, each stitch representing her care for those she loved. Her fingers would bring life to yarn, creating cherished keepsakes for family and friends. An avid flower gardener, Judy found peace and beauty in nurturing her plants, embodying her nurturing spirit in every bloom.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Harold "Blair" Hovis, who stood by her side through life’s highs and lows. Her legacy continues through her children: Steven Clemmer and wife Tracey, Chris Clemmer, Russell Clemmer and wife Angela, Dennis Hovis and wife Cecelia, and Derek Hovis. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and had the joy of four great-grandchildren, whose laughter and presence brightened her days. Judy cherished her time with her family, always opting for moments together filled with joy and love.

Her brothers, Don Britton and wife Pris and Dale Britton, as well as her sisters-in-law, Melanie Britton and Roxanna Britton, also carry on her memory. Additionally, her loyal pet dog, Atlas, stood as a faithful companion throughout her life.

Judy's journey is also marked by profound loss, as she is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Benny and Dan Britton, sister, Gloria Britton Leonard, and nephew, Justin Britton. Their absence leaves a void that will be eternally felt.

In acknowledgment of Judy’s remarkable life and the indelible marks she left on the hearts of her loved ones, visitation will be held at the Dallas Methodist Church, 301 W. Main St., Dallas, NC 28034 with Reverend Billy Ervin officiating, on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM also at the church, celebrating the life of this exceptional woman who brought so much comfort and joy to those fortunate enough to know her.

Judy Katherine Hovis led a life filled with love, devotion, and grace that will be remembered and celebrated by all whose lives she touched. She may be gone, but her spirit will live on in the countless memories she created and the love she shared so freely.
