Hollas "Rick" Black

Hollas "Rick" Black, Jr, 63, of Lowell, NC and formerly of Stanley, went to be with his Heavenly Father May 30, 2013. Mr. Black was born in Columbus, Ga. "Ft. Benning" on June 23, 1949 to the late Hollas W. Black, Sr. and Gertrude Armstrong Black. Rick was a member of South Gastonia Church of God. He was a graduate of Holmes Seminary School in Greenville, SC, past school teacher and past Chaplain of Hospice.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma H. Black of Gastonia. Daughter, LaDonna Brantley of Charleston, SC. Son, Joshua Black and wife Brandi of Lowell. Loving sister, Rebecca Black Lopez of Tucson, Az. and also 5 special aunts and 3 uncles. 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great grandchild.

Services to celebrate Rick's life will be 1:00 PM Monday, June 3rd at South Gastonia Church of God with Reverend's Bobby Gilly, Sam Barnette and Joe McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in Stanley City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 2nd from 2:00-4:00 PM also at the church.
