Eugene "Gene" Field White

April 22, 1919 — January 7, 2019

Eugene "Gene" Field White, 99, of Monroe passed away on January 7, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on April 22, 1919 in Harrisburg, PA. to the late Eugene and Hattie Neal White.  Mr. White is also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Frances White; son, Steve White; and son in law Bill Ditenhafer.  Mr. White was a longtime member of Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church and was founder of Textrol, Inc.

Survivors include his children, Jean Ditenhafer, Mike White and wife Barbara, Jenny Wallace and husband Barney, Eugene White III and wife Nadia, and Helene Thomason and husband William; 18 grandchildren, Jeannene Hornberger and husband William, Bud Ditenhafer, Jay Ditenhafer and wife Danielle, Danny White and wife Shannon, Chrissy Daugherty and husband Wiley, Joey Ferrera (White) and wife Angie, Jimmy Wallace, Tony Wallace, Christopher Wright and wife Emily, Matthew Wright and wife Cacie, and Eric Wright; 13 great grandchildren, Cody, David, Cane, Isabelle, Noah, Caryn, Austin, Hunter, Conner, Breezy, Sarah, Barbara Jean, and Orin; and great great grandchild, Carmella.

A Celebration of life service for Mr. White will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 8600 Potters Rd., Weddington with Pastor Ed Thomas officiating.  Visitation will follow the service.  Inurnment will be held privately.
