Elvin "Mack" Cook, Jr.

August 3, 1958 — October 10, 2020

Mr. Elvin "Mack" Maxwell Cook, Jr., born August 3, 1958 passed away peacefully in his home on October 10, 2020, at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Charlotte, NC to Elvin Maxwell Cook, Sr. and Helen Long Cook.

Serving our country in the United States Army and National Guard are his proudest honors. His career was in sheet metal, where he picked up the love for this trade by his grandfather, Odell Long. Mack had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Mack was a member of Harvest Church where he volunteered his time and service for many events in the kitchen serving his church family doing what he loved, cooking. Mack was an avid bowler, on a league most of his life. In all the years bowling, his most memorable ones are the later ones bowling on a league with his wife, Angie and brother, Kenny. Mack loved anything to do with the beach and saltwater life, especially his love for sharks, deep sea fishing and scuba diving. Mack also had a love for music and in his younger years was in a band as a drummer. There are so many things Mack enjoyed but most of all, he cherished the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mack’s siblings and children for the TLC shown in his final days.

Mack is survived by his wife, Angie Hatcher Cook, sisters, Darlene Tucker and husband Mitch of Waxhaw, Teresa Baker and husband Russ of Charlotte, brother, Kenny Cook and wife Pam of Charlotte, daughters, Shena Avant and husband Wes of Charlotte,  Christy Scott and husband Chad of Mount Holly, stepsons, Jason Haggins and wife Emily of Gastonia, Chris Haggins of Mount Holly, grandson, Chad Scott and wife Abbey, Cody Scott, Brison and Chase Haggins, granddaughters, Haley and Hannah Avant, Emma Scott, Lauren, Lilly, Audrey and Ava Haggins; and 3 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Maggie, and baby on the way, Hazel Gail.

Mack is preceded in death by his father, Elvin Maxwell Cook, Sr and mother Helen Long Cook. Although Mack will be missed immensely, he is now in the arms of Jesus and reunited with his best friend, his dad.

Memorial Service for Mack will be held Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 3pm at Harvest Church 7429 Tuckaseegee Rd Charlotte, NC 28214
