It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Deborah Sue Horne Hoffman, 71, on August 4, 2026, at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC.
She was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on September 7, 1954, to the late Dempsey Cook and Gloria (Peggy) Courtney Horne. Deborah was known as Debbie or Deb and grew up in Belmont, NC with her five siblings.
Debbie grained great pleasure in fishing anytime. She loved fishing at the beach or entering in tournaments with her grandson Dillion
Debbie loved thrifting and panning for gold, digging for gems, shelling at the beach & had a passion for all types of crafting these things were instilled in her by her mother. Nothing brought her more joy than collecting things from nature with family, especially children, to the unique crafts. The most resent crafts she enjoyed was jewelry making & wood craving. Her eye for perfection & attention to detail made her an exceptional seamstress.
Debbie will be remembered for her independences, her strength, kindness, compassion and love for others around her. She gained these virtues from reading her bible and her religious beliefs.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Dickie and David Horne.
She was survived by her son Dustan Hoffman, grandson Dillon Hoffman of the home, two granddaughters; Seanna and Abbey, three great great daughters, two brothers; Cookie Horne of Shelby, Danny and wife Velma Horne of Mt. Holly, sister Donna Hoffman of Mt, Holly and a special niece Lacy Hoffman and Lacey's five sons; Draygen, Dawson, Dorian, Damies and Draykes of Gastonia.
The family of Debbie would like to extend a grateful thank you to all that visited her in recent months. A special thanks to the ones that brough and provided gifts of love, either by providing home cooked meals, providing helping hands around the house to make her more comfortable, or just sitting and spending time to talk and pray with her. we want you to know it meant the world to her for such blessings of love and kindness.
The family would like to invite everyone to a Celebration of Life service for Debbie on August 22, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Davis Memorial Baptist Church 3358 Robinwood Rd., Gastonia, NC.
Immediately following the service the family will receive family and friends with refreshments in the fellowship building at the church.
