David "Dave" Charles Fletcher

David Charles Fletcher (Dave) of Mt. Holly, formerly of Charlotte, NC and Maplewood, NJ, passed away on

Monday, April 13, 2026.

Dave was born on October 7, 1954 in East Orange, NJ and grew up in Maplewood, the

youngest of 3 brothers.

After moving to Charlotte N.C. Dave started working for Good Wood Furniture, eventually

purchasing the business and renaming it The Unfinished Furniture Shop. At the time of his

death, his store had moved to Gastonia where he and his stepdaughter Emily custom finished

furniture.

A loving husband, stepfather and brother, Dave was also a very loyal friend and was quick to

lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was a lover of music, movies and animals, with a

deep knowledge of classic rock and old movies.

Dave always had and deeply loved dogs and learned to love cats as well. They were always

cherished and well cared for. He was also an avid hockey fan and was excited that his

Hurricaines were in the playoffs again this year.

He employed and mentored many young people through the years and was proud when they

went on to have successful careers and meaningful lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Fletcher and Evelyn Weller Fletcher and his

first wife, Lucille “Ceil” Cox Fletcher.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Marcella Liston Fletcher, his stepdaughter Emily,

brothers Walter Fletcher of New Orleans, LA and William Fletcher, Jr. and his wife Ellen, his

niece Chelsea Ianitello and nephews Brett and Dan and their families. And his beloved pets

Zephyr, Violet, Murphy and Irving.

A celebration of life will be held at Benson Funeral and Cremation, 101 Oak Grove Road,

Mount Holly NC on May 16 th 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
