Colby Cash Smith

Colby Cash Smith, age 18, of Belmont, NC passed away on July 7, 2025 at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Colby was born on September 13, 2006 in Gastonia, NC to his parents Mickey Smith and Shannon Alverson.

Colby graduated this past May from South Point High School in Belmont, NC. He loved playing basketball (better known as Street Ball) with all his friends. Colby worked as a sous chef at Marelli’s Italian restaurant in Belmont, NC. He was very excited and passionate about his culinary future. He planned to mentor under his current chef and no doubt would have become a restaurateur at an early age.

Colby is survived by mother Shannon Alverson of Lowell, NC, father Mickey Smith and his second mother Gina Smith of Belmont, NC, brothers Shane and Bradley Pasour of Mount Holly, NC, sister Gypsy Smith of Belmont, NC, nephew Waylon Pasour of Mount Holly, NC, Grandparents Dave and Jo Smith of Great Bend, KS, Grandparents Paul and Becky Sack of Rye, CO and Grandparents Matthew and Faith Clarke of Taylorsville, NC. along with several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Colby is also preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents Maxie and Linda Alverson. 

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday July 12th at 2:00 PM at City Church, 3100 City Church St., Gastonia, NC with the Reverends Dickie Spargo and Steve Black officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM also at the church. Burial will follow immediately at Evergreen Cemetery "A Quiet Place" in Belmont, NC.
