Clyde Douglas Gladden

Clyde Douglas “Doug” Gladden, 90, of Stanley, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Born August 30, 1935, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, he was the son of the late James Clyde Gladden and Lucille Chaney Gladden. Doug retired as a Purchasing Manager with Gough Econ, Inc. in Charlotte after many years of dedicated service.

A warm and outgoing person, Doug never met a stranger. He genuinely loved people and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Stanley and cherished his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Eugene Gladden.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Margaret Simmons Gladden; sister-in-law, Sara Broome (Stan); nephew, Darren Broome (Beth); goddaughter, Crystal Cooper (Dale); and numerous special cousins and extended family members.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
