Clarence "Bob" Hugh Ewing, age 83, lifetime resident of Belmont, passed away November 10, 2015 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. Mr. Ewing was born in Gaston County on May 27, 1932 to the late Robert Leonard Ewing and Evelyn Reep Ewing. He was also preceded in death by his Granddaughter Christina. Bob was a US Army Veteran and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Belmont. He was a past Deacon, Sunday School teacher, participated in the Prison Ministry, and also worked with the youth program. He was also knowledgeable as the church historian. He was past president of the Belmont Jaycee and really enjoyed working with the Belmont Historical Society. He retired as a machinist from Westinghouse Nuclear Turbine Division.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Peggy P. Ewing. Daughter Cathy McCall and husband Boyd. Granddaughter Allison McCall and Great Grandchildren Dylan Jones and Victoria Franckewitz. Sister Kathy Graves and brother Doug Ewing and wife Ann.
Memorial Services to celebrate Bob`s life will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday November 12 at First Baptist Church of Belmont with Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Visitation will follow in the Anne Dulin Room at the church. Inurnment services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday November 17 at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors.
