Calvin W. Shuler, 82, of Belmont passed away November 25, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Shuler was born in Bryson City, NC on June 4, 1933 to the late Ed and Molly Shuler. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Clayton and Junior and sisters, Hazel, Selma, Eddy and Mae.
Survivors include his children, Joe Shuler (Shelia) of Belmont, NC, David Shuler of Gastonia, NC and Kathy Blattau (Jimmy) of Fort Mill, SC. Grandchildren, Brandi Watson (Kevin) of Gastonia, NC, Kim Patterson (Travis) of Gastonia, NC, Mandy Shuler (Mark) of Belmont, NC, Candice Shuler of Gastonia, NC, Stephanie Safrit (Derek) of Mt. Holly, NC and Paul Beal (Candace) of Cramerton, NC. Great grandchildren, Chevis Lee, Madison, Poppy, Brooklynn, Raeann, Logan, Adilynn and Channing. Brother, Richard Shuler of Belmont, NC and sisters, Marie McClure of Belmont, NC and Genevie Cassidy of Lowell, NC, several nieces and nephews, and also his special friend and first nurse, Heather Merritt.
Funeral Services to celebrate Calvin's life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday November 29 at Benson Funeral Services, Mt. Holly with Preacher Terry Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Special Thanks to all the staff of Gaston Hospice, especially his nurse Gretchen Young for taking such good care of Mr. Shuler and Greg Qualls for his regular comforting visitations and to everyone for the prayers, thoughts and all that has been done for our family-We Thank You. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
