Betty Arlene McCoig

Betty Arlene McCoig, 96, of Mt.Holly, NC passed away peacefully Sunday, September 7, 2025. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She spent her life caring for her family; they were her greatest joy.

Betty is the daughter of the late Edna Jenkins and Mark David Horten. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alger McCoig; daughter, Terry Blanton; grandsons, Kevin and Shannon Blanton; and her siblings, Sarah Conroy, Mildred Conard, Helen Farmer, Rachel Lewis, Arthur Horten, Dean Horten, and Bobby Horten.

She is survived by her son, Timothy McCoig; grandson, Chad and wife Michelle McCoig along with their children Harrison & Olivia; granddaughter, Angel Blanton; great-granddaughter, Brittany and Patrick Lay and their children Kelsey, Kenzleigh & Kaylynn; great-grandson, Jermey and Whitney Blanton and their son Brayden; great-grandson, Devon Blanton and his son Kamden; great-grandson, Andrew Blanton and his son Carsen; as well as numerous nieces and great-nieces.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, September 12, 2025 beginning at 1pm in Belmont, NC. Andy Duncan of New Bethel Baptist Church will officiate. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Community Relief Organization of Mt Holly (https://www.cro-mtholly.org/). This will ensure that her spirit of "no one should go hungry", carries forward.
