Betty Miller Garrett, Age 88, of Mt. Holly passed away Thursday July 20, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. Ms. Garrett was born in Gaston County on July 5, 1929 to the late Edgar and Bernice Brown Miller. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Garrett, a brother Bob R. Miller and step-daughter Connie G. Hill. Betty loved the beach, fishing, was a great cook, and in her early years she was active in all types and styles of dancing. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her children, Sonya M. Cowan, Jackie M.Lytton and husband Randy. Stepson Rodney Garrett. Grandchildren, Kimberly, Joshua, Sarah, Barry, Angela and Amber. Great grandchildren, Hayley, Lauren, Katelyn, Winter, Cody, Seth and Matthew. Also her special nieces Marcia Sparrow, Sherri Mace, Robin Croft and special nephews Bobby and Timmy Miller. Graveside Services to Celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday July 24 at Pineview Cemetery in Mt. Holly with Rev. Tim Lawing officiating. Betty’s family wants to thank Dr. Michael Case and “ALL” the staff of the Robin Johnson House for their loving care they gave their mother and grandmother. They request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Robin Johnson House, % Hospice of Gaston County, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
