Barry Lee Pullen, 68, passed away on July 6, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Born on December 3, 1957, in Gastonia, North Carolina, He proudly served his county in the National Guard. Barry lived a life marked by strength, determination, and unwavering principles. He believed in integrity, responsibility, and hard work, holding himself and those around him to high standards. Though he could be firm and direct, those who knew him best understood that beneath his tough exterior was a genuinely good heart. His resilience, steadfast presence, and commitment to doing what he believed was right left a lasting impression on his family and friends. Barry will be remembered with respect, gratitude, and love for the example he set and the legacy he leaves behind.
Barry is survived by his brothers, Junior Pullen (Cheryl), Steve Pullen, Arthur Pullen (Liz), Bryan Pullen (Linda), and David Pullen (Faith); his sisters, Wanda Garris (Jerry), Judy Baker, and Lisa Pullen; his sister-in-law, Betsy Pullen and his sister-in-law, Wendy Pullen. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joey Pullen, Eddie Pullen, and brother-in-law Joel Baker.
He is also survived by his children, Josh Pullen, Daniel Pullen, Wendy Smith (Pullen), and Amanda Pullen; his grandchildren, Candice Surtees (Trevor), Kayla Smith, Hailee Pullen, Alley Parker, and Madi Wilson; and his great-grandchildren, Micah Helms, Isaac Surtees, Asher Surtees, and Nova Baksa.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday July 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Sharon Free Will Baptist Church, 410 Reese Street, Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM.
Barry's family will cherish the memories they shared with him and find comfort in knowing that his strength, values, and love for his family will continue to live on through future generations.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
