Barbara "Bob" Hollar Dunn

Barbara "Bob" Hollar Dunn, a talented realist painter and member of the Charlotte Art Guild, passed away at Wilora Lake Health Center at the age of 90 on November 24, 2023. She was born on January 8, 1933, in Gaston County, NC to the late Frank G. Hollar and Ila Corabelle Bolick Hollar.

Barbara, known as Bob to many, had a remarkable career as an artist. She dedicated herself to the art of oil painting and was highly regarded for her realistic portrayals. Her talent and meticulous attention to detail were evident in every brushstroke she made. Barbara's paintings captured the beauty of the world around her and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to view her works.

Barbara was a past attendee and member of First Methodist Church of Mount Holly. During her working days, she was the receptionist for James J Harris & Company/Marsh McLennan for over 40 years.

Beyond her artistic pursuits, Barbara had a multifaceted personality that shone through in various aspects of her life. She possessed a deep appreciation for nature and found solace in the mountains. Her love for the outdoors translated into an enduring passion for golf, and she was an esteemed member of Pine Island Country Club. Barbara would often spend her leisure time on the greens, enjoying the sport alongside friends and family.

In addition to her achievements and hobbies, including her Beta club membership during her school years, Barbara was also known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Dean Dunn Sr., who passed away in 2009. The loss of their son, Dale Franklin Dunn, and sister Glenda Camp further saddened Barbara's heart.

Barbara leaves behind cherished memories with her surviving family members: children, Deborah Dunn, Ferrell Dean Dunn Jr. (Mary), and Kevin Dunn (Maria); sister, Frances Whiteside; brother, Gwyn Hollar (Diane); grandchildren Derek Dunn (Amber), Colin Dunn, Danelle Chavez, and Brece; as well as seven great-grandchildren. They will continue to honor Barbara's legacy by treasuring the moments shared with her throughout their lives.

Barbara "Bob" Hollar Dunn will be remembered not only for her artistic skills but also for the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her passion, talent, and kind heart will forever remain etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Benson Funeral Service, Mt. Holly with Rev. Steve Crank officiating.
