Audrey Anna Shellman Johnston, born in Cramerton, NC in 1932, died peacefully at home on Christmas morning, 2020. She attended Cramerton High School and UNCG. Audrey was an accomplished pianist and a gifted artist in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oils, and silk painting. She shared her love of travel with friends and family during her trips throughout the US and to the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Belgium, Africa, and many summers in Mexico. With her sister Doris Young Audrey built an impressive collection of African artifacts, which are catalogued in "Afrika", which they wrote. Her fascination with beads resulted in international acknowledgement as an expert in the field. Audrey is survived by her husband of 70 years Hugh W. Johnston, her five children James A. Johnston, Joan C. Johnston, Pamela Johnston, Leslie J. Dale, Linda J. Salinas, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her brother David W. Shellman.
