Melva Thompson

Melva Greene Thompson, 85, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Carolina Caring Hospice House. She was born on October 24, 1935, in Honea Path, SC, the daughter of the late Carl and Geraldine Nally Greene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "TC" Thompson; a son, Curtis Thompson, Jr.; and siblings, Doris Eudy, Helen Beatty, Martha Gordon, and Morris Greene. Melva was a member of Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church and worked as a drapery seamstress. During her career she crafted beautiful drapes for Mercy Hospital and Sears. Melva was best known for her baking, especially her delicious poundcakes. Generations of friends and family came to her annual Halloween party where everything was homemade, from the lemonade to the cookies. When she was not working or baking, she enjoyed visiting the mountains and taking long drives with her husband, just to sightsee and visit. Melva was kind-hearted and always treated everyone equally.

Melva is survived by her children, Pam Crosby and husband Marty, Cindy Thompson, Natalie Shepherd and husband Charlie, Kimberly Thompson, Danny Thompson and wife Mary, Susan Peeler and husband David, Robbie Thompson and wife Cindy; daughter-in-law, Ellen Thompson; 17 Grandchildren; and 18 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Cooks Memorial Presbyterial Church, with Reverend Jason Bryant officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall, immediately following the interment. Josh, Jacob, Zachary, Taylor, Travis, and Glenn will serve as pallbearers.

"Job Well Done"

Did you hear the angels singing, as they came to take her home

One hundred trumpets sounded, and all played very strong

The pearly gates were open, as she was welcomed in

While stood around the throne, were all her next of kin

Job well done my child, were the words she heard so loud

For the Father and the Son, couldn't have been more proud

I called you home forever, for now it's time to rest

Although I don't pick favorites, you were one of My best!!!

-Love you with all my heart, CT

Melva And Family,Melva was one of my Daddy's sister and my Aunt. We all had good times together when we were young, fishing and shooting a gun with Uncle Kurt for my first time. Melva took care of me many times during my teenage years feeding me and making me my favorite Pound Cake. Loved all the BLT's we had during the summer and the best Pound Cake you will ever have. Will never forget how sweet and kind she was to all of us.Will Miss You Forever LOVE YOU! Tim Greene
