Alicia Rector

Alicia Michelle Tompkins Rector, 37, of Charlotte passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Atrium Health Charlotte.  She was born in Asheville, NC on April 29, 1983 to Randall Tompkins and Carolyn Mogridge Tompkins.  She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Corwin and Stella Bow Tompkins; maternal grandparents, John Clyde and Frances Louise Whitehead Mogridge; mother and father in law, Harold Loren Rector and Betty Frances Rector; and brother in law, Harold Wayne Rector.  Alicia loved the Lord and accepted Christ into her life as her Savior.  She had a very kind and tender heart for everyone; she never met a stranger.  She loved her family and had an awesome love for her sister and nieces.  She liked to travel; especially to the beach and enjoyed tropical vacations.  She loved seeing new attractions, lighthouses, The Biltmore Estate, Botanical Gardens, and Christmas lights.  She always liked to try new things; loved to draw, enjoyed camping, hiking, and walking.  She also enjoyed socializing with family and friends and she really loved cats; especially her pet cat, "Asher Boo."  Alicia was an employee at Horizon Eye Care in Charlotte for the past 10 years.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Jonathan Andrew Rector; stepdaughter, Autumn Marie Rector; sister, Devina Renee Parker and husband Daniel, nieces, Lydia, Shayleigh, and Isabella Parker; brothers in law, Randolf Arthur Jones, Edward Jones, and James G. Rector; and sister in law, Jennifer Ethel Shelton.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Daniel Parker officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Entombment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont.

Guestbook

Alicia was a treasured friend in middle school. We lived in the same neighborhood in Glen Meadows. We lost touch when she moved and Ive thought of her often. I tried to search for her and was heartbroken to see she had passed away. We were both living in Charlotte, and I had no idea. Sending her family so much love.

I remember...

I remember the cute girl in scrubs that moved into my apartment complex. I remember wanting to meet youand wishing our paths would cross. Friday, January 29th (my birthday) our paths finally crossed because both of our vehicles were broken into. What a pleasant tragedy. I remember yourbeauty, thoughtfulness, kindness, compassion, love and many other wonderful things about you. We shared so many fantastic years together. You weremy loving partner in all of our adventures, the good and the bad. I still find it hard to believe you are gone. Alicia, your memories are all I have now. I will remember and cherish your unconditional love. I will remember our friendship. I will remember laughing with you. Ill remember the sound of your voice. I will remember all the little things. I will remember holding your hand. I will remember....

I love you,
Jonathan

I met Alicia at work and we have been friends since. I remember always going over to her house and listening to music & having bon fires. She always had smores for me to make because they were my favorite. We would order pizza and good food from the old hole in the wall down the street. We would talk and laugh for hours. I would watch Asher sometimes when she went out of town and had to spray him because I was afraid hed claw me. She always thought that was funny. She was so nice & sweet to me. I tried to cheer her up a lot when I knew she was down. I hope she knows that I tried. I just wanted her happiness. Im thankful to have met her. I love you shed always say before hanging up. I love you too, Alicia. Always. I will miss you.

Thank you for all the memories you made with dad & I. Thanks for listening to me when I needed somebody, for keeping my secrets, for our times at the pool, for taking us to all kinds of festivals and events. But mainly thank you for taking care of me like I was yours. Love & miss you.
